Rosedale Kitchen and Bar

Rosedale Kitchen and Bar

It’s been a while since I posted a review. I’m older, and the world has gone to hell, so don’t expect any cute stuff. Now, getting to the point:

It was 12:30 on a Sunday and I had a bad case of the tummy grumbles.

This is usually a terrible time to be looking for a restaurant, but Grandpa had the kids so we had to seize the opportunity. Erin suggested this new restaurant next to Snooze on Lamar — Rosedale Kitchen and Bar. It seems weird to open a lunch / brunch place right next to another that is so popular, but maybe it’s a smart choice to catch the overflow?

Anyway it was a smart choice (you win this round, Erin…) because they sat us right away and took our orders. I asked for avocado toast. Everyone knows that I love avocado toast. Check my previous reviews of Josephine House. This avocado toast was pretty good. As you can see there was a lot of stuff on it. Radish, pickled onion, feta cheese. Normally, I love stuff. The more the better. But here, I feel like the base wasn’t quite solid enough to counterbalance all the flavors. The bread was a thin cut, and not particularly flavorful. It’s definitely possible to make the opposite mistake: bread that’s too thick & crusty to eat — this happened to me once at Tiny Boxwoods — but here I felt like there just wasn’t enough savor in each bite. Still, enjoyable! Like a salad.

Erin’s looked pretty solid. The chips were rustic. Crunchy and nicely seasoned.
